Companies and Markets' recent study, North American Next Generation Wireless Networks Market, has revealed that 4G technology is set to govern the next generation wireless networks market in the U.S. The survey forecasts that the number of 4G technology users in 2015 would exceed the 2010 U.S. population figure, with the point of presence (POPs) crossing the mark of 300,000,000. The introduction of 4G technology has opened ways for various advanced multimedia services, telephony and gaming, which were earlier limited to fixed line networks owing to the requirement of huge amount of data. It has been found that many U.S. networks are incorrectly projecting their LTE and WiMax capabilities as 4G technologies, though these do not fulfill the data rate requirement criteria set for 4G technology classification. Though the 4G technology emphasizes on high speed data delivery, but the similar bandwidth of 3G and 4G technologies make it unlikely for the users to switch from their 3G services for speed improvements so easily.
