4G Technology to Take the Lead in Wireless Networks
09.12.11

4G technology will lead the next generation wireless networks in the US. This has been reported in a recent survey by Companies and Markets, which is estimating 4G technology adoptions to exceed the 2010 U.S. population figures by 2015.
The survey on 4G technology which was titled "North American Next Generation Wireless Networks Market" states that the network will have more than 300,000,000 points of presence (POPs) by 2015. The mobile operators in the US have been wrongly promoting their LTE or WiMax technologies as 4G since their networks are not capable of giving 4G technology speeds or data rate.
When the 4G technology is officially launched, a gamut of applications that were earlier restricted to fixed line networks will be able to switch to this technology. Most of the operators will prefer to use 3G over 4G technologies since the network coverage remains an issue with 4G. The widespread switch to 4G technology among mobile users will be hindered by very less change in speed. 3G is gaining importance with the booming smartphone market as it gives good data speeds without compromising on the network coverage.
