4g LTE in Korea

KT Corp, a Korean telecom company, is rushing to equip itself with 4G LTE wireless technology as the demand for wireless data usage in Korea continues to grow.

KT Corp said it would begin offering LTE service tot he nation's capital in November, and by 2013 it expects to offer nationwide service. KT Corp will be introducing new 4G mobile devices in the second half of this year as well. The company just launched the first HTC EVO smartphone to utilize the 4G WiBro network last week. Competitors LG Uplus and SK Telecom are currently ahead in the LTE race with plans to offer the service in Seoul beginning in July. KT is taking a different approach as they believe that maintaining the 3W network (WiBro, Wideband CDMA, and WiFi) alongside LTE is critical, since it will take time to transfer over to full 4g LTE service.
